1. How can
I use the Friend Finder service? |
|
| A

You can use this Friend Finder service
to check the current locations of your
friends and family members anytime without
having to call and ask them. This service
is currently between Maxis mobile subscribers
only. |
| - |
Please refer to Step
by by Step Guide on using the Friend
Finder service. |

2. When
I try to ADD, OK or FIND with a phone
number, I get a reply from the system
that it's "Not a Valid number". |
|
| A : |

Please check if the phone number
you have entered is a correct Maxis
mobile phone number. Currently this
service is between Maxis users only,
and you can not locate non-Maxis phones.

3. When
I try to find locations of my friend
using "FIND", I get a reply from the
system that a permission request has
been sent to my friend. What does this
mean? |
|
| A
: |
- |
You need a permission from your friend
before you can check the location. If
this is the first time you are trying
to find your friend, the system will
automatically ask your friend to give
you a permission. Alternatively, you
can send "ADD <friend's mobile number>
to 32001 to ask for permission from
your friend. |
| - |
If you think you have already gotten
a permission from the friend, please
check one more time if you have entered
a correct phone number. You can use
"nickname" feature to avoid
entering phone numbers each time you
do FIND. (To learn how to use a nickname,
check How
to Use Nickname). |
| - |
To check if you indeed have a permission
to check your friend's location send
"LIST" to 32001 and see if your friend's
number is in the Friend List. Check
Whom
I can Find for more details. |
| - |
Maybe you have asked for permission
to your friend by sending "ADD" or "FIND"
already, but you may have entered a
wrong number or maybe your friend has
not replied with "OK" yet. To check
this, send "LIST" to 32001, and check
if the number you want to find is in
the List. If the entry is marked as
"waiting" then your friend has not replied
with OK yet. Give a call to your friend
and ask her/him to send "OK" to 32001.

4. I don't
want my friend to check my location
anymore. |
|
| A
: |
- |
I gave a permission to check my location
to a number by mistake or maybe I no
longer want him/her to check my location.
|
| - |
In this case send "DELOK < friend's
mobile number>" to 32001. You can
confirm the result by sending "LISTOK"
to 32001. This will give you a list
of phone numbers that can track your
location. |

5.
Can I find my friend's location without his permission?
|
|
| A
: |
- |
No one can check the location without
an explicit permission. |
| - |
To get a permission from your friend,
first send "FIND < friend's mobile number
>" or "ADD < friend's mobile number >
to 32001. Then as soon as your friend
sends "OK" to 32001, you can check the
location by sending "FIND < friend's
mobile number >" to 32001. |
| - |
Alternatively, you can just ask your
friend to send "OK < your mobile number
>" to 32001. Then you can start finding
the friend's location immediately. |
| - |
When your friend sends OK message
to 32001, the system will acknowledge
that a permission has been given successfully.

|
| A : |

Send "Cancel" to 32001. Then "Cancel
yes" to 32001 one more time. This will
remove all customer information such
as Friend List, and your friends can
not locate you anymore, until you re-join
the service by sending "JOIN" to 32001.

|
9. The location
information is not accurate. |
|
| A
: |
- |
The location information is only
approximate, and is not guaranteed to
be an "accurate" current position of
the subscriber. |
| - |
The location information is based
on which cell tower the subscriber's
handset is currently communicating.
This cell location is normally 500m
to 1KM off from the subscriber in urban
area. In rural area, the cell site can
be much farther off. Also in high mountains
or office towers, the radio signal from
remote cell towers can be picked up,
thus giving a wrong location. |
